Ultrasound Therapy
Therapeutic ultrasound is a physiotherapy modality that uses high frequency sound waves to support recovery in specific tissue presentations.
Book Physiotherapy ConsultationAbout ultrasound therapy
Therapeutic ultrasound delivers sound energy into tissues such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. It is different from diagnostic ultrasound used for imaging. Some people describe the sensation as gentle warmth alongside the glide of the treatment head over gel.
Ultrasound therapy may be used as an adjunct when the clinical picture suggests it could support tissue recovery and symptom management, alongside exercise and hands on treatment.
Ultrasound is applied using a handheld device moved across the skin with gel. Your appointment will still focus on assessment, education, and exercise progression — ultrasound is typically one part of an overall plan.
